Moving Out
Inspections
Up to one week prior to your departure, Housing Maintenance will send an email with the date and time of your pre-move-out inspection. At that time, a maintenance technician will walk with you through the unit and note areas that need your attention prior to your move-out to avoid paying fees for repairs or custodial charges.
- Make sure all personal items and trash is removed from the unit/room prior to turning in your keys.
- Make sure all areas in the unit are clean. If living in a shared unit, this will include your bedroom and common areas.
- If applicable, return all furniture to its proper location and make sure patios/balconies are clear.
- Make sure there are no major damages to the unit/room.
- Take pictures of your unit/room prior to checking out. Email the pictures to fixit@caltech.edu
The final inspection will be performed by a maintenance technician after you vacate the unit. We will email you if there are any questions regarding the condition of your unit. If damage charges apply, you will be notified through email and charges will be billed to your Caltech Bursar's account.
